Crumbaugh and Braun are also members of the AgriBank District Farm Credit Council.
Stabenow, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, received the award for her important work on behalf of rural communities, agriculture and the Farm Credit System. In the 2018 Farm Bill, she championed improving access to capital for farms of all sizes, including new opportunities for urban farmers, new and beginning producers, and farmer veterans. ADFCC members are in Washington to meet with members of Congress about issues important to farmers and ranchers in AgriBank's Midwestern District.
"Senator Stabenow's leadership during the lengthy Farm Bill process was the determining factor in producing legislation that provides not only a safety net for producers but also resources for critical nutrition programs," said Laura Braun, of Clinton County, Mich., a farmer, board member of GreenStone Farm Credit Services, and ADFCC member. "We celebrate her achievements on behalf of American agriculture and consumers."
"Access to credit is essential for farmers to start and sustain their businesses," Stabenow said. "I'm honored to receive this award from such strong leaders, who work hard to grow our agricultural economy."
